  • The Parisian was the first large steamer of the Allan Line. She was the first to have bilge keels to dampen the rolling, thus reducing seasickness. Used on the Liverpool to Canada and the USA service.

  • She was built for the Allan Line by R Napier and Sons, of Glasgow, the first North Atlantic mail steamer built of steel; 5,359 tons; 134,34 x 14,08 meters (440.8 x 46.2 feet; length x beam); straight bow; 2 funnels; 4 masts; screw propulsion; service speed 14 knots;
  • Accommodation for 150 1st class passengers, 100 2nd class passengers and 1,000 3rd class passengers.

  • Launched 4 November 1880.

  • Maiden voyage, Liverpool-Halifax-Boston, 10 March 1881.

  • First voyage, Liverpool-Quebec-Montreal, 28 April 1881.

  • Last voyage, Liverpool-Halifax-St. John, New Brunswick, 22 December 1898.

  • Triple-expansion engines by Workman, Clark and Co, Belfast; 1 funnel 1899.

  • Resumed Liverpool-Quebec-Montreal service, 20 July 1899.

  • In 1902 the Parisian was equipped with the first Marconi wireless telegraphy.

  • Last voyage, Liverpool-Halifax-St. John, New Brunswick, 16 March 1905.

  • First voyage, Glasgow-New York, 25 May 1905. Last voyage, Glasgow-New York, 17 August 1905.
    (4 roundtrip voyages).

  • Glasgow-Boston, 25 May 1906, (2nd and 3rd class only).

  • First voyage, London-Quebec-Montreal, 30 April 1908.

  • Resumed Glasgow-Boston service 17 September 1909.

  • Titanic Disaster 1912: It was first hoped that the Parisian had picked up some survivors when searching at the vicinity of the disaster, but she arrived at Halifax April 17th with the disappointing news that she had not.

  • She commenced her final voyage between Glasgow and Boston on 31st Oct.1913. (arrived 27 November).

  • The Parisian was scrapped in 1914.
